Early Years Foundation Stage
Learning outcomes for EYFS
In Early Years we love to learn through play, both indoors and outdoors. We have a fantastic learning environment and we are always looking for ways to engage the children and to ignite their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. We use a balance of adult led activities and continuous provision, which allows us to focus on developing the Characteristics of Effective Learning in EYFS.
Our curriculum is based around the Government's non statutory guidance Development Matters. We teach the skills throughout the year, and follow the children's interests.
There are three Prime areas of learning
Communication and Language, where children learn to listen, understand, and speak.
Physical Development, which focusses on enhancing motor skills and promoting physical health.
Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, which helps children build confidence, manage emotions, and form relationships.
In addition, there are four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied.
These are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. These areas work together to ensure that children are prepared for future learning while fostering a love of learning in a supportive, nurturing environment.
Our children enjoy learning how to make friends and develop their confidence. We have lots of opportunities to learn through active play, investigation, stories and visits.
As a team with our parents, families, children and our collaborative partners in our local area we endeavour to fulfil the principles of the Early Years of Unique child, Positive relationships, Enabling environments and high quality Learning and development.
